The Pile-On
A boy called Jay made a mistake — said something silly, or got something wrong in front of everyone. One person teased him about it. Then another joined in. Then it became a thing, with more and more kids adding their own jab, each one getting a laugh, the whole group piling on. By the end, ten people were mocking one boy over one small thing, and it had stopped being about the mistake at all. A kid watching could see Jay's face changing — the forced grin, the going-quiet, the wanting-to-disappear. Adding one more comment would be so easy, and would get such an easy laugh.
