A girl called Maya has a relative who always wants a hug — and something about it makes her uncomfortable. She can't fully explain it. It's too long, or too tight, or just gives her a funny feeling she doesn't have words for. The grown-ups say "go on, give your uncle a hug, don't be rude," and so she does, and she doesn't like it. Maya thinks maybe she's being silly. He's family, after all, and everyone else seems fine. But the uncomfortable feeling keeps showing up, and she's started to dread the moment of arrival, when the hug she doesn't want is expected of her again.
