The situation

You and your friend Sam were both messing around in class, but when the teacher turned round, she only saw Sam laughing — and you'd already gone quiet. She kept Sam in at break and let you go. You were just as much a part of it. Sam took the whole punishment and didn't say a word about you being involved. At lunch, Sam shrugs it off: "It's fine, don't worry about it." But it isn't really fine. Sam's missing break for something you both did, and you walked free. Sam's being a good friend by not dropping you in it. The question is whether you let them carry it alone — or whether you own your half.
