The situation

Two kids, Leo and Finn, disagreed about something small in the comments under a post — a game, a team, an opinion. It started as banter. Then one of them got a bit sharper, the other matched it, and within an hour it had become a full-on public argument, with other people jumping in to take sides and egg them on. Neither could back down now, because backing down in front of an audience felt like losing. So they kept going, each reply nastier than the last, long past the point where either of them even cared about the original thing. The crowd loved it. Leo and Finn just felt worse and worse. A tiny disagreement had grown teeth, in front of everyone.
