100 Questions to Ask Kids (By Age, 4–12)
A question that works great for a 5-year-old usually falls flat with a 10-year-old, and vice versa — "what's your favorite color" doesn't land the same at 11 as it did at 5. Below are 100 questions organized by age, so you're always asking something your child can actually run with.
Why age matters more than the question itself
Younger kids (4–6) answer best with concrete, simple, one-idea questions. Kids 7–9 can handle a "why" follow-up and enjoy imagination questions. Preteens (10–12) want to be taken seriously — questions that assume they have real opinions get real answers; questions that sound like a toddler quiz get a shrug.
