The situation

A girl called Aisha had a group of friends she'd been part of for ages. But the group had slowly changed — or maybe she had. They were mean now, in ways that made her uncomfortable, and being in the group meant being part of that, or at least never objecting. She'd stayed because they were familiar, because leaving felt scary, because who would she even sit with? Then one day she did it. She stopped sitting with them. She walked away from a group that had stopped being good for her, into the uncertainty of not knowing what came next. It was one of the hardest and bravest things she'd ever done — and she did it quietly, with no one applauding.
