You saw something online — a shocking fact, a scary warning, an amazing claim — and you almost shared it, because it seemed true and important. It had a confident voice, maybe a dramatic photo, lots of people reacting as if it were real. Your finger was on "share." Then you, or someone, actually checked. It was false. Made up, or twisted, or an old photo from somewhere else entirely. You'd nearly passed it on to everyone you know as if it were true. It had felt so convincing — that's exactly why it spreads. The realest-feeling thing in your feed turned out to be the fake one. You almost helped something untrue travel further.
