A boy called Theo discovered he could go "live" — broadcasting himself to anyone watching, in real time. At first only a couple of friends joined. Then strangers started appearing in the viewer count, and in the comments. People he didn't know began asking him questions. Where do you live? What school's that uniform? Are you home alone? Some of them were being nice. Some of them were a little too interested. Theo, enjoying the attention, kept answering. He didn't really think about who, exactly, was on the other side of the screen.
