A girl called Sofia made a mistake in front of everyone — a real, cringey, public one. She'd been trusted to do something, got it wrong, and the whole room saw. In the moment she wanted to disappear into the floor. Now, hours later, it's still playing on a loop in her head. She's sure everyone is thinking about it, that they'll remember it forever, that it somehow proves she's not as capable as she'd hoped. The mistake has grown in her mind until it feels less like a thing she did and more like a thing she is. What Sofia can't see, from inside the loop, is that almost everyone else has already half-forgotten it — and that the size of the mistake in her head has very little to do with its size in the world.
