The situation

A boy called Theo starts lots of things — an instrument, a sport, a club, a project — full of excitement. But the moment it gets difficult, the moment he's not instantly good at it, he quits. "I'm just not into it anymore," he says. "It's boring." His room is full of half-finished, abandoned things. What Theo doesn't see is the pattern: he doesn't quit when things get boring. He quits at the exact moment they get hard — right before the part where most people start to improve.
